Wanhuida Partner lectures at WIPO Seminar in Geneva

On November 21 and 22, 2024, the “Seminar on the Practical Aspects of the Madrid System for the International Registration of Marks for Advanced Users”, is held at WIPO Headquarters, Geneva.


Cai Ye, Partner of Wanhuida Intellectual Property is invited as a guest speaker to lecture on the “China Practice for International Trade Mark Registration”.


On November 21, the first day of the seminar, Ye sits in on the session, where her fellow speaker Lucy Headington-Horton, Senior Legal Officer, Madrid Legal Division, Madrid Registry, Brands and Designs Sector, WIPO, lectures on “Post Registration Management of the International Registration”.


On November 22, Ye gives the audience a lecture on the “Practice at the Stage of Designated Madrid System Members: Procedures in the IP Office of China”. Her lecture is divided into three parts. The presentation provides a refresher training covering the topics of the CNIPA’s key examination procedures, specific requirements users need to fulfill when designating China in their Madrid international registration, common grounds of provisional refusal and tips to avoid or overcome them, as well as post registration management and practices in China. In the breakout session, Ye delves into case study analysis to help the audience better understand the Chinese practice. The lecture is wrapped up with a heated Questions and Answers (Q&A).
